Santiago - The daughter of a Spanish diplomat killed by Gen Augusto Pinochet's secret police has fled Chile after receiving death threats, the newspaper Ultimas Noticias has reported.
A Santiago photographer, Ms Carmen Soria, whose father is one of six Spaniards named in a Spanish warrant for Gen Pinochet's arrest, began receiving anonymous death threats a month ago shortly after the detention of Gen Pinochet in Britain.
In London, the British Home Secretary, Mr Jack Straw, was yesterday given until December 2nd to decide whether he will approve the continuation of the extradition procedure against Gen Pinochet.
Sitting at Bow Street Magistrates' Court in central London the chief metropolitan stipendiary magistrate, Mr Graham Parkinson, said that Mr Straw should have issued a so-called Authority to Proceed under the Extradition Act of 1989, although he would hear further representations should it be necessary.
