Gardaí have issued a description of the man they believe to be responsible for the fatal stabbing of a Chinese national in Rialto early this morning.
The 23 year-old man was stabbed to death in a house in Reuben Avenue at around 5am, after he disturbed an intruder on the upstairs landing of the house.
He was taken to St James’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A knife was recovered from the scene this morning and was been taken for forensic examination.
The attacker is described as between 22 and 25 years of age, five foot nine inches tall, with dark hair and a blonde fringe. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue jacket.
Gardaí are also investigating to see if the killer was responsible for a burglary in a house on the South Circular Road, which is at the rear of the house in Rialto.
The victim was living in Ireland for a number of years and lived in the house with a number of other people. He worked as a kitchen porter in St Stephen's Green.
Gardaí have preserved the scene for technical examination and have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
