The threat of pre-Christmas strikes at some of Britain's biggest airports has been averted by the agreement of a new pay deal.
Talks between the Transport and General Workers Union and the British Airports Authority ended in success at 4.00 a.m. this morning.
The union will now recommend the deal worth a little less than eight per cent over two years to members and officials are confident they will accept it to resolve the dispute.
The two sides met for 11 hours at the union's head office in London in a bid to avoid a series of strikes at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Southampton.
