The leaders of the major Irish churches paid a visit to Brussels this week at the invitation of the President of the European Parliament, Jose-Maria Gil Robles. President Gil Robles had issued the invitation when he visited Belfast earlier in the year.
The delegation consisted of Archbishop Brady and Archbishop Eames of the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of Ireland, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, Dr Dixon, and the President of the Methodist Church, Reverend David Kerr; they were accompanied by church officials.
Their programme included a meeting with President Gil Robles, a dinner hosted on behalf of the President by Vice-President Gerard Collins, meetings with MEPs and briefings by Parliament and Commission officials.
