Over 130,000 cigarettes with a street value of €55,000 were seized from passengers arriving on a flight from Lithuania at Dublin airport yesterday.
The cigarettes were seized after an operation by customs officers targetted a Lithuanian-based gang arriving from Vilnius.
The haul consists of a quantity of Marlboro and L&M and is estimated represent a potential loss to the exchequer of €45,500.
This year to-date at Dublin airport customs officers have seized 11 million cigarettes, with 2.3 million seized this month alone.
