ANKARA - The Turkish Foreign Minister, Ms Tansu Ciller, fired a new volley in Turkey's political crisis yesterday, accusing Mr Mesut Yilmaz of being an army puppet even as the prime minister designate appealed for co operation in his search for a coalition partner.

"Certain political parties can be under the influence of certain forces and think it laudable that a government can be formed through horse trading behind closed doors," said Ms filler in a thinly veiled reference to military interference.

Ms Ciller said Mr Yilmaz's proposed government was already discredited by being the "product of a temporary regime" - a scathing reference to the military backed governments which emerged from several Turkish coups d'etat.
