The influential, internationally acclaimed French feminist filmmaker, Agnes Varda, will visit Dublin next weekend to introduce a season of her films at the IFC. Now 61, Varda made her mark in 1954 with La Pointe Courte and followed it with the awardwinning Cleo de 5 a 7, her striking Nouvelle Vague film featuring Corrine Marchand (above) as a nightclub singer waiting for a crucial medical verdict.
The IFC season of nine features and seven shorts by Varda will also include such notable work as the charming One Sings, The Other Doesn't, the wrenching Vagabonde starring Sandrine Bonnaire, and Varda's affectionate tribute to her late film-maker husband, Jacques Demy, in Jacquot de Nantes.
