Soccer:Manchester City have dismissed reports they could sell Emmanuel Adebayor to Italian giants Juventus.
Adebayor was quoted by the Italian media as saying he was ready to quit City after just one season due to the club's pursuit of other forwards, notably Inter Milan teenager Mario Balotelli.
The former Arsenal ace claimed that joining Juventus would be his preferred choice after suggesting he would be disappointed to leave the Premier League.
"I wanted to wear the City shirt and have a better season compared to last year," Adebayor was quoted by Tuttosport. "But I know there will not be many chances for me and so I am considering the many offers I have received.
"I will be sorry to leave the Premier League, but in Europe there are other top leagues. Juventus are a great club which I would like to play for.
"Until some time ago I would not have accepted a transfer to other clubs. The economic aspect is important, but if it was one of the biggest clubs in the world I would consider other aspects."
However, there have been conflicting reports regarding the validity of the quotes and City have been quick to stress they are not looking to offload Adebayor.
Using their Twitter feed, City said: "Take it from us everyone, despite reports, MCFC has no plans to sell Emmanuel Adebayor; our new number nine for this season - and that's official."
