Clamping in Dublin has been extended to seven days until Christmas. From yesterday, there will be clamping on Sundays from 1.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Garda sources said it was being introduced on Sundays because of the scale of illegal parking in the city on that day, adding that it was expected to be reviewed after Christmas.
When clamping was introduced in August 1998, Sunday was the only day in which it was not operated. Clampers were on duty from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., and on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
