Gardaí in Co Clare are searching for two men following an armed raid on a bank in the resort town of Kilkee yesterday.
The pair entered the Bank of Ireland at O’Curry Street at about 2.20pm and threatened staff before making off with about €8,000. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Both were wearing helmets while one brandished what appeared to be a sawn-off shotgun. The other is believed to have been carrying a knife. They escaped on a high-powered motorbike. Supt Gerry Wall said: “Both these people were wearing gear which would not ordinarily be described as motorcycle gear. One was wearing a distinctive green jacket and we think that there was a Rugby World Cup logo on it.”
Gardaí have appealed for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact them on 065 9080559.
