The search for a 19-year-old woman who was swept into the sea off the Co Clare coast on Tuesday evening will resume at first light this morning.
A shoe and hat belonging to the young woman were found by rescue workers yesterday.
Coastal units of the Irish Marine Emergency Service in Doolin, Kilkee and Ballybunion searched the coastline for seven hours, assisted by its Shannon-based rescue helicopter and the Community Inshore Rescue Service boat from Kilkee.
Dozens of people from the Kilkee area came out to help with the shoreline search, which was co-ordinated by local gardai.
The Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources, Dr Woods, said: "The support of so many local people is heartening for our rescue services and I want to thank them for their assistance."
While winds calmed down yesterday, frost and icy conditions caused problems on the roads.
A number of areas experienced flooding, including roads around Strokestown, Co Roscommon, and the N4 between Carrick-on-Shannon and Boyle.
A lorry spun off the road in Longford early yesterday and hit the side of a house, but no one was seriously injured.
Numerous minor accidents were reported in Dublin throughout the day, including on the Lucan Road, Malahide Road, Maynooth Road, Milltown Road and in Tallaght village. Side roads in Cos Cavan, Kildare and Tipperary were said to have been worst hit by the frost.
AA Roadwatch advised motorists to reduce speeds and stick to main roads in the coming days if the cold snap continues.
