Ireland’s Darren Clarke strengthened his position in the Dimension Data Pro-Am in Sun City today, by taking a commanding four-stroke lead at the end of the Third round.
The Tyroneman had started the day in second place, one stroke behind American Bruce Vaughan. Both men were together in the final pairing and were forced to retire after the seventeenth hole, when play was suspended due to bad light.
The rest of the field had completed the round.
At the time of suspension Clarke was three under for the day, 14 under for the tournament. Vaughan, who didn’t have the best of days finished on 3 over par for the day and slipped down the leaderboard.
South Africa's Retief Goosen is in second place, four strokes off the pace.
Zimbabwe's Nick Price shot his second consecutive round of 67 to finish at eight under for a share of third place. -PA
