An MEP has called for a greater standard of ethics in Irish politics. Ms Dana Rosemary Scallon said because of the many political scandals young people were turning away from political parties.
She said: "Year after year of tribunals and financial and political scandals have disillusioned the electorate.
"It is now evident political parties and politicians need to raise standards. A stance needs to be taken politically which affirms that we will utilise every opportunity to clean up Irish politics once and for all."
