US secretary of state Hillary Clinton will meet Taoiseach Enda Kenny today, as well as President Michael D Higgins, when she pays a courtesy call to Áras an Uachtaráin.

She will also meet representatives of the Dublin Youth Council when she goes to Dublin City University (DCU)where, in the Helix Theatre, she is scheduled at 2.15pm to make a speech on human rights.

Mrs Clinton flew in to Dublin Airport last night and will participate in today’s two-day ministerial council of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

Her first official engagement will be this morning, when she meets non-governmental organisations on the margins of the OSCE meeting.

Afterwards, she will address a plenary session and meet Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Eamon Gilmore.

In DCU, in the afternoon, she will launch a new Institute for International Conflict Resolution and Reconstruction.

The purpose of the institute, according to DCU, is to bring together the university’s expertise in the Northern Ireland peace process, in conflict and post-conflict rebuilding in regions throughout the world, and in online political extremism, mediation, gender equality etc.

It will offer programmes at BA, MA and PhD level.

In the evening, Mrs Clinton will meet Mr Kenny before, tomorrow morning, travelling to Belfast.
