Mr Bill Clinton is to make a return visit to Derry next week, five years after he made history by becoming the first sitting US president to visit the city. SDLP leader Mr John Hume confirmed yesterday that Mr Clinton will make a public speech in Derry's Guildhall Square on Wednesday week as well as meeting business and educational leaders in the city's Magee campus of the University of Ulster.

Mr Clinton is expected to arrive in Derry in the afternoon of May 23rd, a day after nomination day for candidates for the general election. His first engagement will be at the University of Ulster. His Guildhall Square address, outside the building where the Bloody Sunday Inquiry is being held, is expected to take place at about 5.30 p.m., after which he will retire to a local hotel before he attends a dinner with members of the city's Chamber of Commerce.
