Clinton urges Bush to target bin Laden first

Mr Bill Clinton has urged President George W. Bush to get Osama bin Laden before going after Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Mr Bill Clinton has urged President George W. Bush to get Osama bin Laden before going after Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

The former president, speaking at a political fundraising event in the California town of Santa Ana, said bin Laden, who he said was apparently still alive, was "still our [America's] biggest security threat".

Mr Clinton said Hussein was "not a good man," but warned that an attack on Iraq could spur him into using chemical and biological weapons against attacking US forces.

"There's no question . . . he [Hussein] has significant stocks of chemical and biological agents . . . he'll do everything he can to use them. That's the only risk . . . it's an issue the president has to address".

Mr Clinton said the question America must answer is whether "you want to run the world of the 21st century or do you want to lead the world? There's a big difference".
