Just two days before the big Y2K next Wednesday night, Liverpool superclub Cream gives Dublin a taste of pre-millennium madness with a final, floor-filling extravaganza at the Point. Orbital (right), Basement Jaxx, Roger Sanchez and Mr Spring will be jumping the gun on New Year's Eve and getting the celebrations off to a loud and beaty headstart. Orbital were already here earlier this year, at the Homelands event in Mosney, but the continued popularity of this year's The Middle Of Nowhere album should ensure lots of trainers on the floor. Basement Jaxx have had spectacular success with their Remedy album, and singles such as Red Alert, Rendez- Vu and Jump 'n' Shout have redrawn the boundaries of British House. Irish clubbers are already familiar with Mr Spring a.k.a. Tim Hannigan, whose Blaxxtraxx 3 (Funky Nassau) has become a huge hit on the UK post-trance scene. The single is a favourite with UK DJs Pete Tong, Judge Jules and Norman Cook, and has already hit the Billboard Dance Chart.
