GAA:Ireland skipper Stephen Cluxton will be joined on the plane to Australia for the International Rules series by Finian Hanley and Colm Begley after their respective club sides were knocked out of the club championships over the weekend.
Cluxton and Begley featured for Parnell's against Ballymun Kickhams yesterday but were unable to prevent a 1-9 to 0-7 defeat at the hands of their Dublin rivals.
The result, while disappointing for the Parnell's duo, prevents the sort of club versus country issues that have already seen the likes of Darran O’Sullivan turn down the chance to represent Ireland.
Hanley found himself in a similar situation, but Salthill/Knocknacarra’s 1-8 to 0-9 defeat at the hands of Tuam Stars in the Galway semi-finals this afternoon means he is also free to join up with the rest of the Ireland squad.
Leighton Glynn will also travel south after helping Rathnew to a county final in Wicklow which will now be deferred until his return.
The two-test series against Australia begins next Friday in Melbourne.
