Golf round-up:Rebecca Coakley kept up her impressive showing at the Ladies German Open in Munich as she shot a three-under-par 69 to move to four under and a tie for fifth spot after the first two rounds.
The 29-year-old, who had four birdies and just the one bogey in her round, trails Linda Wessberg by six shots after the Swedish golfer scorched around the Gut Hausern layout in just 64 shots to move to ten under.
That gave her a one-shot lead over England’s Melissa Reid. First-round leader Iben Tinning had a disaster, carding a two-over 74 to drop back to three under.
Alison Walshe is on one under after shooting a 71, with Hazel Kavanagh on level par after a second straight round of 72.
Tara Delaney made the cut right on the number after a 72 left her on two over, but Martin Gillen will miss the weekend play after a 78 today left her on 10 over.
Des Smyth finish in a tie for fifth spot at the Handa Seniors Masters in Melton Mowbray as he closed with a three-under-par round of 70 to end the tournament on 11 under.
Scotland’s Bill Longmuir walked away with the event at Stapleford Park, closing with a 66 to move to 20 under and a seven-shot winning margin over England’s Roger Chapman and Thailand’s Boonchu Ruangkit.
