La Corte restaurant, Cafe Fresh and the sandwich bar Quiznos Sub were served with closure orders because inspectors found there could be an immediate danger to public health.

All three are in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre in Dublin city centre and have reopened since the orders were served last month.

A closure order issued under the auspices of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) was also issued to Shan restaurant in Temple Bar last Friday. It has not reopened yet.

Buono Sera on in Kilmacud on Dublin's southside was shut in early November and has now reopened.

Canton Gardens in Summerhill, Co Meath was shut around the same time and has not reopened.

The orders against the business remain listed on the FSAI's website for three months.

Food outlets were warned to be particularly vigilant because of extra pressures at this time of year.

FSAI chief executive said Dr John O'Brien said: "Catering for increased turnover during the Christmas festivities can result in commercial caterers, restaurants and retailers working flat out to meet demands.

Large quantities of food are often prepared several hours in advance, increasing pressure on refrigeration storage, meaning procedures should be monitored carefully, he added.
