Collision between truck and bus kills 14 in Algeria

Fourteen passengers were killed and 23 injured, two seriously, when a truck and a bus collided in southern Algeria, today.

Fourteen passengers were killed and 23 injured, two seriously, when a truck and a bus collided in southern Algeria, today.

The bus, with 60 passengers on board, crashed into an articulated lorry carrying a bulldozer on a road linking the towns of Hassi Messaoud and In Amenas near Ouargla, in southern Algeria.

Most of the passengers were employees of state energy group Sonatrach and public gas distribution company Sonelgaz.

Road accidents kill more than 4,000 people a year in the North African country, according to official figures.
