Forensics experts were today examining computers taken from the home of murdered schoolgirl Michaela Davis.
The trawl of internet files was ordered to find out who the 12-year-old may have been in contact with in the days, weeks and months before last weekend’s attack.
Her body was found by an elderly man on an embankment beside the Royal Canal on Saturday evening.
She had been missing since midnight the night before after telling her parents she was going out to meet a friend for a few minutes.
The computers were taken from the family home in The Village development in Clonsilla, less than a 10-minute walk from where her body was found.
Garda detectives asked for the equipment to be removed as they tried to establish whether Michaela was in contact with anyone over the internet or using social networking sites.
It is believed she may have been spending time with young people several years older than her.
Michaela’s body was returned to her parents Brendan and Deirdre and teenage brother Brendan for relatives to hold a private Mass in the family home this evening.
Final arrangements are also being put in place for her funeral on Thursday at midday in St Mochta’s Church, where she was christened, celebrated her First Communion and Confirmation.
Meanwhile, counsellors were expected to remain available to pupils and teachers at Luttrellstown Community College where Michaela had started her first term at secondary school two days before her death.
An 18-year-old man has been charged with the girl's murder.
