Aid agency Concern will mark its 40th anniversary with a reception at Áras an Uachtaráin tomorrow.
President Mary McAleese will honour volunteers, fundraisers and staff who have worked for and supported the Irish NGO over four decades.
Concern, which first responded to the Biafra famine in 1968, has 3,200 staff working in almost 30 countries across Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.
"The event will also mark the contribution of Concern and other Irish NGOs to combating poverty and hunger and aiding development in the developing world," said a Concern spokesman.
The reception is one of a series of events planned for Concern 40th anniversary.
In October, the NGO will host an International Hunger Conference in Dublin that will feature guest speakers from UN agencies and other humanitarian organisations.
A number of TV documentaries are also being made charting the history of Concern.
