Nicosia - A week after the breakthrough summit between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders political signals are mixed, Michael Jansen reports. Over the weekend the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mr Ismail Cem, warned that Turkey "will not accept" the accession to the EU of the Greek Cypriot majority republic on its own.
If the Greek and Turkish Cypriots are unable to achieve a settlement, Mr Cem said, "Turkey with the means at its disposal will bring about its own solution." Ankara, with 30,000 troops on the island, has threatened to annex the north.
