Washington - The US House of Representatives yesterday unanimously called for a tougher US policy in support of a free and fair vote and an end to militia violence in East Timor.
In Jakarta, the World Bank said international donors to Indonesia would be closely watching the situation in East Timor and could change their stance if a UN-supervised independence ballot was disrupted.
In East Timor, Indonesia's task force said a leaked report warning of a likely victory for pro-independence forces was dismissed as a "100 per cent forgery".
