Connacht will play the first leg of their Parker Pen Challenge Cup quarter-final at home against Welsh side Pontypridd but the date, time and venue still has to be confirmed.
Welsh TV station S4C expressed interest in televising both legs live from 5.30 p.m. on Saturday, January 11th and again at Pontypridd's home ground Sardis Road the following Saturday.
At present Connacht's home ground, the Sportsground, is unavailable because of construction work which means one of the province's club grounds will be used.
The venue will be chosen from Galwegians, Buccaneers or Corinthians grounds. Although Galwegians boasts the best pitch surface, it doesn't have floodlight facilities which would rule it out if the Connacht Branch agrees the 5.30 p.m. kick-off times with S4C.
Confirmation on all permutations is expected at 5.30 p.m. this evening.
Heightened expectation surrounds the fixture following Connacht's thrilling 50-49 winning aggregate over Narbonne in the last round to set up the province's first European quarter-final.
Meanwhile, the date for Ulster's Round five Heineken Cup clash against Cardiff has been confirmed. The match will be played at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday, January 11th at 2.45 p.m. - the same proposed date as Connacht's first leg.
