Brennans Family Pan recall on concerns of tainted product

Safety measure taken as sliced loaf may contain small fragments of laminated paper

A Brennans spokeswoman said there is no risk to consumers who may have already consumed the product

Brennans Bakeries are recalling Brennans Family Pan which may contain small pieces of laminated paper as a precaution.

The product at risk of containing the foreign items is the Brennans Family Pan 800g with a best-before date of May 20th, 2016, and with a Code 18.

A spokeswoman said there is no risk to consumers who may have already consumed the product.

“However given Brennans’ high standards of food safety, taste and quality, the company is taking the step of recalling the product. Only Brennans Family Pans 800g with this date code are affected, no other Brennans products are involved. Any potentially affected packs have already been removed from the supermarket shelves,” said the spokeswoman.

What to do

Advertisements alerting consumers to the product recall will be placed in the press.

The company has advised the retail trade and appropriate regulatory authorities.

Anyone in possession of Brennans Family Pan 800g best before date May 20th Code 18 can, if they wish, return the product to their local retailer for a refund.

Or they can send the empty packaging with their name and address for a full refund to: Joseph Brennan Bakeries, Greenhills Industrial Estate, Walkinstown, Dublin 12.
