Dublin Airport customers are being advised that the departures road at Terminal 1 will remain closed to traffic until 11am on Friday morning, due to essential maintenance works.

Survey work on the stretch of road, which has been underway since the early hours of Tuesday morning, is being carried out ahead of further, more substantial restoration.

A spokeswoman for the Dublin Airport Authority said it was more than likely that these extensive works would be required and that they could last for a number of weeks at a later date.

The road has been in constant use since the terminal opened more than 40 years ago.

“It’s been heavily used over its lifetime and that road will need remedial work,” the spokeswoman said.

Alternative drop-off

To deal with the current disruption, customers setting down at Terminal 1 are being redirected to an alternative drop-off point behind the airport’s multi-storey car park.

A traffic management system has also been put in place to alleviate any confusion.

Terminal 2 is not affected.
