Thumbs up:Celie O Rahilly got in touch to see if we'd send her thanks publicly to Outback Barbecues in Donegal for its prompt resolution of a recent problem she had and we are happy to oblige.
"I bought one of their barbecues in July this year and in December noticed severe cracking of one of the grill plates. I was asked, over the phone, to e-mail photos of the damage together with the serial number. A few days later I received a replacement by courier. Now that's what I call good service!" she says.
Cold comfort
Thumbs down:There was bad news last Friday for motorists and people who like to stay warm with the announcement that increases in the price of petrol and home heating oil will kick in this week. Petrol will go up by about 3 cent a litre while home heating oil is likely to jump by more than one cent a litre, increasing the cost of filling domestic heating fuel tanks by about €100.
No cheap, cheap
Thumbs up:The RSPCA has launched a campaign urging supermarkets to stop selling cheap chicken meat from birds reared in poor conditions by the end of 2010. The RSPCA wants supermarkets to drop standard chicken in favour of free-range and organic varieties. It is asking shoppers to pay a little bit extra to ensure their poultry has been bred in decent conditions.
