Bord Gáis's laptop security breach:As one of the 75,000 people whose details (bank account, sort code, address, e-mail address, etc) are likely compromised, I have to ask if they're capable of actually providing us with electricity at all? – Elaine
These stories amaze me, as someone who works with a laptop. Our corporate data is always on the server. At the very worst, if my laptop was stolen the only data they would get would be a few smiley photos of the kids. – Liam
How about not handing over your bank details to every company that asks for them in the first place? I pay my bills once a month in the good old local post office. It takes all of five minutes and I never have to worry about a third party holding my details. Also, if I have a query about a bill, I don’t have the money sucked out of my account regardless. I simply don’t pay until it is sorted. I can’t believe so many people are so willing to give personal details to companies to save a paltry few minutes once a month. – Citizen girl
Meat-free Mondays
I have been meat-free during the week for the last four or five months. It was part financial and part health/weight loss. I am still definitely a carnivore and to be honest, seeing McCartney et al pushing [meat-free Mondays] makes me feel like eating a bacon sandwich (and maybe buying a fur coat for good measure). I was partly inspired by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, his point being that meat eating itself isn’t the problem – it’s the volume and poor quality. – Tom
