On the sauce: A supermarket in Britain refused to sell a barbecue sauce to a 25-year-old woman on the grounds that it contained a tiny amount of alcohol and she had no ID.

Staff in a Tesco outlet in Bedford wouldn't sell her Jack Daniels' barbecue sauce, which is 2 per cent alcohol. A spokesman for Tesco said "Our staff are incredibly vigilant when it comes to the sale of alcohol" but admitted that in this case there appeared to have been an error of judgment.
