Thumbs up: It's that time of year again when weeds run rampant. In search of something to keep hers in check, a reader went into one of the many enormous DIY outlets on the outskirts of Dublin where she saw small bottles of Round-Up weed-killing spray selling for €19.99.
Days later she saw the large bottles of the same brand - approximately double the size - selling in her local Dunnes Stores for €12.99. She stocked up before contacting PriceWatch so supplies may well be limited.
Chocs a-whey
Thumbs down:Mars chocolate could soon be out of bounds for strict vegetarians following the announcement that animal whey is to be used in the manufacture of some confectionery. Milky Way, Bounty, Snickers, Galaxy, Twix and Maltesers are all now being made using animal rennet. "From May 1st, we are changing the source of the whey which is used in our chocolate confectionery and ice-cream products to include some animal-sourced whey," the company said. "We are making this change to ensure the quality and availability of the supply of whey in the future."
