Contentious loyalist parade passes off peacefully

A contentious loyalist parade through east Belfast passed off peacefully yesterday.

There was a heavy security presence as the Apprentice Boys passed close to the nationalist Short Strand area where Catholic residents held a protest.

But there was none of the violence that had been feared.

The march was organised to mark the 50th anniversary of the Queen's Coronation.
