Cork 5-17 Waterford 2-08:Nothing was ever likely to stand in Cork's way of progressing to the Munster SFC final when Waterford came to town, but the contest at Pairc Ui Chaoimh was over sooner than many expected.

After the opening quarter Cork, aided by the wind, were 3-7 to 0-2 in front.

John Miskella’s fourth minute goal dropped in from around 60 yards out, but Daniel Goulding’s first showed the best of Cork, as Paul Kerrigan, Ciaran Sheehan and Donncha O’Connor combining for him to score with aplomb.

The 18th minute saw Cork again piece another breathtaking move ended by Kerrigan hitting the net, but Cork could only add an Aidan Walsh point to their tally in the second quarter.

Waterford kicked fine points from Brian Phelan, Shane Briggs and Tommy Prendergast, and were boosted by a penalty on the stroke of half-time that Gary Hurney converted for a scoreline of 3-8 to 1-6 at the break.

Any hope they had ended 20 seconds of the restart, when Kelly and Donncha O’Connor sent Goulding in for his second goal.

It took Waterford all of 24 minutes to score again as Fintan Gould added a fifth goal for the Rebels.
