Staff at a Cork DIY and garden store called off a sit-in and went back to work today.
The 16 staff at the 4Home store in Michelstown refused to leave the premises on Thursday and started the sit-in when they were told the store was closing and their jobs were going.
Intervention by the Labour Relations Commission last night led to the return to work.
Staff were told the closure planned for tomorrow night would not now take place and talks would be held between employers and employees on Monday.
Lorraine O'Brien of the Mandate trade union said there were a number of issues to be resolved.
"First and foremost for them they want to retain their jobs because they are well aware of the climate out there.
"In the event that is not achievable and we are faced with a situation where the store is going to close, the statutory redundancy put on the table by the company is not acceptable to the workforce."
