A Co Cork teenager struck by a car while walking near her home has died in hospital, it emerged today.
Clodagh Murphy (14) of Tower, Blarney was seriously injured in the incident last Wednesday and lost her life at Cork University Hospital yesterday.
Meanwhile gardaí are continuing their investigation into a head-on collision between a car and a garda vehicle near Killarney, Co Kerry.
Jeremiah Harrington (22) from Riverview Tower in Blarney, Co Cork died when his car burst into flames upon impact with the patrol car at 3am yesterday morning.
A post mortem examination on his body is due to be carried out today.The two gardai in the patrol car were also taken to Kerry General Hospital for treatment.
These deaths bring to 276 the number of people killed on the roads so far this year.
