The Radisson SAS in Cork is top create 100 full-time jobs and up to 45 part-time jobs when it opens its newest hotel in Little Island in the city in June.

The €37 million development is owned by two local Cork businessmen - Mr Des O'Dowd, who is also Proprietor of Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa, and property developer Mr Rick Fitzgerald of the Oran Group.

The 131-bedroom hotel will increase the number of Radisson hotels in Ireland to nine.

Mr O'Dowd, "The local economy in Cork is performing extremely well, not least of all because of the continuing investment from major pharmaceutical and IT companies.

He said: "Although it is a competitive hotel market, it is obvious that the City has a significant requirement for a sophisticated international hotel brand."

"It is for this reason that we chose to invite Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts to operate the hotel, as the group is already well established in Ireland," he added.
