The Cork Institute of Technology has welcomed what it calls "the very positive report" from an international review group, which recommends that it should have the right to make awards in its own name in sub- degree courses. In a statement, the institute called it "a vote of confidence in the quality and breadth of CIT's courses".
The statement noted the review group had praised its policy of matching its courses to the demands of local industry.
The report also praised the institute's accounting procedures and plans, contrary to the impression conveyed in a report in last Thursday's Irish Times.
