IRELAND HAS lost its winning ways at the Eurovision in recent times but it seems our future could be with the World Karaoke Championships. At the weekend, a Cork man beat off stiff competition at the finals in Finland to scoop the top prize.

IT consultant Adrian Kenny (30), from Mayfield in Cork, who has performed on the Gerry Ryan Show, came first out of more than 30 countries to claim the title in Lahti, southern Finland, on Saturday night.

He won the Irish Karaoke Championships earlier this year with his rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. Speaking from his home in Mayfield, Cork, yesterday, Adrian's father, John, said he was very proud of his son's achievements.
