Mezzo-contralto Amanda Neri and Cork City Councillor Ken O’Flynn are among the singers and musicians who have joined forces to raise funds for the Cork Penny Dinners charity by recording a CD.

The CD, called Heaven Can Wait after the Meatloaf song, goes on sale next month and features the single A Penny for your Thoughts by the newly formed Cork Penny Dinners Choir. Participants include members of the Garda Síochána Choir, the Fleischmann Choir and Penny Dinners volunteers. It is hoped the CD will raise more than €55,000 for the charity, which provides hot meals for people in need.

Cork Penny Dinners has seen a 400 per cent increase in the numbers availing of its services in the last 18 months.
