Gardaí are treating as 'suspicious' the death of 89-year old pensioner Patrick Delaney, who died at Cork University Hospital last night.

A post mortem on the body of Mr Delaney is continuing this afternoon, and gardaí are awaiting the results before deciding what course to take in their investigation.

Inquiries into the aggravated burglary of Mr Delaney's home are ongoing. Now, however, they are treating his death as suspicious.

The dead man had been at the hospital since he was injured during the robbery at his home at Oven, Co Cork on February 12th. Three raiders broke into Mr Delaney's isolated house that evening and he sustained hip injuries during the robbery.
