GAA round-up:Cork have booked their place in the final of Allianz Football League after a 2-15 to 1-12 win over Armagh. That they denied Kerry in the process will have made it all the sweeter for the Leesiders who will contest their third successive Division One decider.
It was far from plain sailing for Conor Counihan’s side, who were reduced to 14 men when Eoin Cadogan clashed Stevie McDonnell, at Páirc Uí Chaoimh as they were pushed all the way by Armagh.
The points were only secured five minutes from time when Aidan Walsh cut through the visitors to net a second goal although Cork might have been more comfortable but for some wayward shooting earlier in the contest.
In Killarney, Kerry got the win they needed over Down but it was to no avail as Cork will meet Dublin in the final. Dublin had already booked their place with one round to spare but are likely to be without Alan Brogan at Croke Park after his sending off against Galway for striking.
Galway’s defeat puts the tin hat on a miserable campaign, while Monaghan will also be relegated despite their win over Mayo.
In Division Two, Laois defeated Donegal to set-up a rematch between the two sides in the final while Meath completed a miraculous escape at the bottom, drawing with Tyrone to send Sligo and Antrim down.
Westmeath leapfrogged Offaly to claim a place in the Division Three decider alongside Wexford while Waterford and Limerick could not escape the drop zone. And in Division Four, Longford hammered Carlow to ensure they would meet Roscommon in the final.
