This year's winner of the RTE Radio 1 Austin Clarke Centenary poetry competition is the Cork born writer Greg Delanty for his poem Striped Ink, about his experience in the printing trade.

Mr Delanty, who now lives in Vermont in the US, collected his £1,000 prize yesterday.

The second prize of £500 won by Ms Mary O'Donnell, from Maynooth, Co Kildare, for Bees and Saint Colman; the third prize of £300 was shared by Mr Liam O'Donovan, from Galway, for The Garden of Remembrance, and Ms Catherine Phil McCarthy, from Dublin, for When There's War.
