A Court report published in Thursday's edition of this newspaper incorrectly stated that Nestor Bus had settled its 16-day action against CI╔/Bus ╔ireann and the State and that Nestor Bus was to receive the costs of the action against CI╔/Bus ╔ireann and the State.

The High Court case taken by Nestor Bus against Bus ╔ireann and CI╔, in relation to alleged anti-competitive practices in the road passenger transport industry, also suggested collusion with the State operators in the issuing of licences to private bus operators. The case was dismissed with the consent of Nestor Bus, and with an order for costs in favour of Bus ╔ireann and CI╔.

The dismissal of the case by consent means that the manner in which Bus ╔ireann conducts its business has been vindicated as being in full compliance with both road transport and competition legislation, and in accordance with best operating practice in the road passenger transport industry.

The Irish Times regrets the errors in last Thursday's report, and in yesterday's Corrections & Clarifications section, and further regrets any upset caused to the management and staff of Bus ╔ireann and CI╔.
