Clare County Council has deferred any discussion on proposals to water down its contentious provision to ban "non-locals" from building homes in certain parts of the county.
At yesterday's adjourned October meeting of the council, the chairman, Mr Sean Hillery, said that the issue would not be brought before the council "until we get our act together".
It is understood that discussions with the council's planning special policy committee on the revision of the County Development Plan are to continue over the coming weeks.
The draft variation of the plan seeks to lift the general ban on "non-locals" building homes in areas designated "visually vulnerable" and on scenic routes. The ban on outsiders building single homes in areas under "high development pressure" is to remain.
