The planning status of an exclusive addiction clinic backed by high-profile car salesman Mr Bill Cullen is to be examined by Wicklow Council Council officials. Thus follows a complaint that it has no planning permission.
The Forest, which opened this month close to the village of Laragh, near Glendalough, is believed to be the first of its kind in Ireland and will cater for a small number of clients at a cost of up to €3,500 per patient per week.
The council began inquiries following a complaint from a local councillor that the site of the clinic, a former upmarket guest house, did not have planning permission.
Mr Pat Casey wrote to the council last week seeking the inquiry, stating that the only planning permission for the site was for a guesthouse.
Councillors were told by Mr Tom Murphy, director of corporate affairs at the council, that inquires were ongoing.
The Forest is modelled on similar rehabilitation clinics in England and abroad which have catered for a number of celebrities in the past.
