Cork manager Conor Counihan has called on four of the county’s All-Ireland-winning under-21 side ahead of the Munster SFC opener against Waterford on Sunday. Colm O'Neill is joined by defensive duo Noel Galvin and Aidan Walsh and attacker Ciaran Sheehan.
After missing the challenge game against Galway, Anthony Lynch is a concern for Counihan but the manager if hopeful the Naomh Aban clubman will prove his fitness.
There are also slight concerns over Patrick Kelly and Conor McCarthy after the pair picked up knocks in club games at the weekend.
Counihan can ill-afford any more injuries after losing forward Michael Cussen, Kevin O'Sullivan and defender Diarmuid Duggan, who had knee surgery last week.
Meanwhile, Wexford will be able to call on John Banville in their championship opener against Offaly after the full-forward’s appeal against a four-week ban was upheld last night.
The Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) had proposed the suspension after an incident involving Banville in the Division Two final against Offaly at Semple Stadium.
However, the Wexford county board last night presented their case to the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) and the appeal was upheld.
