Two counterfeit designer clothing consignments valued at €142,000 have been seized at Dublin Airport by officers from the Revenue's customs service.
The consignments arrived in Dublin Airport in the last week. The first consisted of 2,268 hooded tops bearing the French Connection mark, FCUK.
An attempt to disguise the name was spotted by an alert Customs Official. The goods arrived from Pakistan.
This was the second seizure of French Connection products this year. Over 4,000 similar garments were seized in February at Dublin Airport. The goods are valued at €127,000.
The second consignment, counterfeit designer jeans and tops, bearing the SOHK, Nike and NBA marks, has also been seized at Dublin Airport.
The goods arrived from Thailand and were described as personal effects. This consignment consists of 322 pieces valued at approximately €15,000.
In recent months Customs Officers at An Post SDS Depot have seized large amounts of counterfeit DVDs, mobile phone accessories, designer handbags and clothing.
This year to-date Customs Officers seized 297 separate consignments of counterfeit goods consisting of 89,678 pieces valued at €2.8 million.
