Bronx-born Bruce Molsky is widely regarded as one of the masters of traditional American fiddle and banjo playing and also as an authority on early American music. His most recent album, Poor Man's Troubles (Rounder), which included a guest appearance by Irish string wizard Martin Hayes, "plays like a modern take on Alan Lomax recordings from the American South" according to critic Scott Holter on Amazon.com. His live performances are a platform for his deep knowledge of bluegrass, country, folk and blues - and all parts in between. He has played with luminaries such as Mike Seeger and Sy Kahn and joined Kevin Bourke and Alasdair Fraser for the Fiddles on Fire tour in England. Molsky appears with the Rough String Stringband (right) in the Commblestone, Smithfield Village, Dublin, on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
