Donegal County Manager Mr Michael McLoone has called on the Independent TD, Mr Thomas Gildea, to clarify the grounds on which he has called for an inquiry into planning in the county.
At a meeting of Donegal County Council on Monday, Mr McLoone said that as an employer the council had a duty to ensure allegations or accusations were dealt with in a fair manner. The other council members subsequently voted in favour of four principles governing statements about employees. These say that allegations should be raised first with the county manager and that allegations should not be made unless there is evidence to support them. A former planner with Donegal County Council is challenging his dismissal in the High Court.
